Opportunity
There is an immediate opening for a senior treaty pricing position at OdysseyRe, a leading global insurance and reinsurance company. The pricing actuary’s primary responsibility is to evaluate and make recommendations on the viability of reinsurance proposals by employing sound actuarial methodologies and analytics along with working closely with the company’s underwriters to understand the exposures and business opportunities. The ideal candidate will be able to think like an underwriter as well as an actuary.
Essential Duties
Independently analyze the profitability of treaty reinsurance opportunities covering a broad range of lines of business including but not limited to property, general casualty, professional lines, A&H, and surety.
Develop pricing indications using sound actuarial principles and methodologies with little supervision.
Enhance traditional pricing methodologies by identifying and implementing analyses of internal and external data sets.
Clear, precise, effective communication with underwriters, senior management, and external clients.
Periodically participate in underwriting audits and client meetings.
Update pricing model parameters including trends, size of loss distributions, and development factors using insurance industry and external data sets.
Provide price monitoring information for reporting purposes.
Maintain familiarity with insurance industry developments impacting pricing analysis.
Perform other related duties as required to achieve the goals and objectives of the company and department.

Job Requirements
Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
In-depth knowledge of issues for multiple lines of business including reinsurance pricing issues, coverage issues, and external factors that would affect profitability.
Ability to comprehend complex reinsurance submissions and creatively reach sound conclusions using all information available.
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels within the company as well as with external clients including ceding company personnel, brokers, and consulting actuaries.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Preferred
Property & marine reinsurance pricing experience.
Proficiency in VBA, R, Python, SQL or similar.
Experience with model development including predictive modeling and data visualization tools.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in mathematics or similar field.
At least 7 years of actuarial experience.
ACAS or FCAS designation.
