Position Summary:The Substance Use Disorder Case Counselor will develop strong partnerships within the community, promoting the Substance Use Disorder Program of Clinica Romero. The Counselor provides outreach to the community, assists individuals in recovery, and builds Clinica Romero’s patient base. The Counselor is also responsible for effectively counseling agency clients to encourage drug/alcohol-free lifestyles, develop sober life skills, and successfully meet treatment plan goals while documenting all client progress.
Responsibilities:
Provide assessments, interventions, and individual sessions.
Facilitate groups for clients experiencing chemical abuse or dependency. Maintain case history and progress notes while observing clients.
Counsel individuals or groups and implement therapeutic treatment plans to resolve addictions to drugs or alcohol.
Assist with providing data needed for monthly reporting to the Program Director and ensure clients are attending the program as required.
Develop strong relationships within the community to generate leads to the clinic.
Engage the community and encourage referrals to Clinica Romero as their program of choice.
Counsel both youths and adults with substance abuse problems.
Manage a caseload and provide clients with quality service.
Conduct individual sessions and administer crisis intervention/case management.
Facilitate and prepare group sessions on various topics related to recovery.
Complete all necessary documentation in a timely manner, including reports, progress notes, discharge summaries, treatment plans, and aftercare plans.
Perform other assigned duties as required.
Qualifications:
Skills/Specialties include Case Management, Counseling, and Outreach. Certifications include Certified Addiction Counselor, Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor CCAPP.
A minimum of 1 year of experience working in the field of addiction.
Must be highly motivated and demonstrate strong communication skills.
Must be able to deliver energetic outreach to the community.
Ability to recruit new clients (adults and youth) to our agency.
Meet expected outcomes in terms of new clients attending as a result of outreach efforts.
Meet goals and objectives set by the Program Director.
Understanding of the 12 Core Functions.
Ability to write individual and group progress notes/treatment plans that meet county standards.
Experience in group facilitation.
Understanding of the recovery process, including the twelve-step program(s).
Experience in case managing/counseling clients in recovery.
Experience in observed drug testing of clients.
Proof of certification/registration.
Completion of required Internship hours.
Valid Driver’s License and proof of insurance are required.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office 2000 and Excel.
Experience working with Drug Medi-Cal clients (Adult and Youth) is a plus.
Understanding of Drug Medi-Cal requirements/process is a plus.
