About the Position:

The Administrative and Civil Law paralegal is the sole civilian paralegal position assigned to the Administrative and Civil Law Division, Office of the Staff Judge Advocate, XVIII Airborne Corps and Fort Bragg.

Duties

Provide the primary support for the Installation Labor Counsel.

Evaluate requests for information under the Freedom of Information and Privacy Acts.

Research relevant legislation to determine if documents can be released.

Perform records management administration duties.

Compile weekly/monthly reports indicating which actions were assigned to the attorneys.

Salary

$75,708 - $98,418/year

Conditions of Employment

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.

Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of [10]% of the time.

QualificationsWho May Apply:

Specialized Experience:

One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Creating a variety of legal correspondence; 2) Assisting in conducting legal research to support cases; AND 3) Maintaining automated database of legal documents. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

OR

Education:

Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: [Legal Studies].

OR

Combination of Education and Experience:

A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

Time in Grade Requirement:

Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).

EducationFOREIGN EDUCATION:

If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program.

One year trial/probationary period may be required.

Direct deposit of pay is required.
