Capacity and Fundraising Improvement VISTA, American Gateways

American Gateways was founded in 1987 to help refugees fleeing war in Central America. We have grown to become one of the most effective and efficient nonprofit providers of immigration legal services in the nation. Based in Austin, we serve 23 Central Texas counties and four Texas detention centers. We provide culturally sensitive, trauma-informed legal representation and education to over 12,000 low income immigrants from 72 countries annually. Our staff is supplemented by dedicated volunteers, pro bono attorneys and VISTA members, leveraging over $700,000 in pro bono and volunteer work a year. This VISTA Member will work closely with the Director of Development and other staff to improve and expand American Gateways’ infrastructure and capacity with a focus on maintaining and improving the donor database and fundraising systems and procedures, creating data reporting templates, training staff on new systems and working on special projects.
