OverviewThe Opportunity:
General Dynamics Electric Boat, the worlds foremost designer and builder of nuclear submarines, is seeking Network Engineers to join the organization within the Information Technology (EBIT) Department.Position Summary:
The individual in this position will possess the ability to apply subject matter knowledge to solve complex business problems, while also frequently contributing to the development of new ideas and methods.The responsibilities of this position will include, but are not limited to, the following:Solve and execute on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of multiple factors.Provide expertise to functional project teams and participate in cross-functional initiatives.Function independently with significant individual judgment within broadly defined policies and practices to determine the best method for accomplishing work and achieving objectives.
ResponsibilitiesThe ideal candidate will possess the following:Project management knowledge or experience with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including appropriate due diligence.Possess creative ability, consulting skills, leadership qualities, credibility, and self-confidence. Influencing skills and the ability to work effectively in a geographically dispersed team.Demonstrated technical leadership skills. Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements and solutions.
QualificationsRequired:Bachelors of Science in IT or related field (Computer Science, Information Systems, Networking, etc.)4+ years related Network IT experienceCisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Certification (equivalent IT certifications) plus Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE) (or equivalent)Demonstrated experience as a network solution architect in a global infrastructure environment, including SDWANStrong experience in VPN, IPSec, GRE, and SSL tunnels.Preferred:Strong experience in planning, designing, installing, configuring & troubleshooting Routers/Switches and firewalls in the field.Strong experience in Firewall configurations using Next Gen Firewalls, such as Palo Alto Networks.Demonstrated experience and knowledge in Wireless network administration, experience in Aruba Network is an added advantage.Strong understanding of the OSPF and BGP routing protocols.Strong understanding of layer 2 and layer 3 switching protocols.Strong understanding of the following: HSRP, DSCP, NAT/SNAT, TCP/IP, Multicast, Ethernet.Strong familiarity with the following WAN technologies: Carrier provided MPLS, VPN, and SD-WAN.Ability to install, configure and troubleshoot OS network issues in Windows and Linux.Strong understanding of DHCP, DNS/domain services.General Dynamics Electric Boat is a recognized leader in the design, construction, and lifecycle support of submarines for the United States Navy.
