What You’ll DoAnalyzes and assesses most technologies, but lacks a complete overview of compliance, vulnerability and threat landscape.Actively manages and escalates risk and customer-impacting issues within the day-to-day role to management.
How You’ll Do ItCompletes most assigned work unattended.Learns more complex Cybersecurity concepts including basic and traditional threat exploitation techniques of inside and outside bad actors.Contributes to program enhancements including advancement of internal vulnerability detection testing methods and helps new assessors learn fundamental cybersecurity concepts.Learns system design and how vulnerabilities impact the product as a whole.Learns to assess production systems and understands how observed events and failures impact risk at the company.
Qualifications You’ll NeedThe BasicsBachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Business Administration and Management or Analytics.2+ years of experience in Information Security, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Data Analytics or related fields.In lieu of education, 4+ years of experience in Information Security, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Data Analytics or related fields.Internal applicants only: technical proficiency rating of
advanced beginner
on the Dreyfus engineering scale.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable a qualified individual with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position as required by federal, state, and local laws:Primarily remain in a stationary position.Occasionally move about the work environment to complete the major responsibilities of the job.No need to transport physical objects.Primarily performed indoors in an office setting.Ability to operate office equipment such as computer, telephone, printer, and calculator.Ability to communicate verbally and in written form.Travel up to 10% of the time.Bonus Points If You HavePrior experience of security assessments of systems, applications at any level is a plus.Strong project management and analytical skills with the ability to recognize obstacles that may derail progress and identify patterns to help with problem solving, and take the necessary steps to eliminate those obstacles, provide guidance and/or escalate appropriately.Ability to understand and apply data security requirements, including PCI, to technologies used in Discover.Familiar with most technology infrastructure components (Unix/Linux, Windows, Middleware, Mainframe, Storage, Networking, etc.), public cloud platforms (e.g., AWS) and data analytics technologies and processes (e.g., Snowflake).Understanding of Agile development concepts and methodologies.Excellent communication skills and ability to articulate complicated situations in a precise and concise manner.Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously without compromising on quality.Knowledge of IS Risk Frameworks and Standards (PCI-DSS, NIST 800-53, ISO 27000 series, NIST Cybersecurity Framework).

The base pay for this position generally ranges between $65,000.00 to $109,800.00. Additional incentives may be provided as part of a market competitive total compensation package.
