Job Summary and QualificationsThe Director of Infection Prevention is a position that ensures high quality, patient-centered care by supporting the coordination of the hospital-wide Infection Prevention Program, which includes surveillance, analysis, and reporting of hospital acquired infections, education of staff, and the development of health system policies, procedures, plans, and performance improvement projects to ensure rigorous infection prevention standards that meet regulatory requirements. In collaboration with the Quality leaders and Infection Prevention (IP) team, the Director of Infection Prevention makes decisions relative to the surveillance, prevention, and control of infections. This position must have the expertise to recognize and identify areas of opportunity, create effective solutions for resolution, coordinate, and execute. It requires interaction at the bedside and with patients, visitors, staff, providers, and division infection prevention leaders.
What qualifications you will need:
Bachelors Degree in Health related field required, Masters Degree in Health related field preferred.
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of practice or compact state required.
Minimum 5 years of experience in a clinical setting required.
Minimum 2 years of experience in a leadership role required.
Minimum 5 years of experience in Infection Control required.
Certification in Infection Control required.
What you will do in this role:
Develop and implement policies and procedures for the hospital Infection Prevention program as well as the annual Infection Prevention Risk Assessment and Plan, which govern control of infections and communicable diseases using evidence-based methods, in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Engage with Employee Health leaders to provide input in policies, procedures, and practices for the hospital Employee Health Program, which guide and support the provision of the services for employee health and infection prevention and control, in compliance with regulatory and division goals.
Perform process evaluation and qualitative/quantitative analysis for department-specific and organization-wide infection prevention and control improvement opportunities.
Promote interdisciplinary approach for the identification, tracking, reporting, and resolution of infection prevention and employee health issues.
Collaborate with all disciplines and departments to develop and update area-specific policies, procedures, and practices pertinent to infection prevention principles.
Support emergency management activities and EOC through participation on environmental rounds, bioterrorism and patient influx planning, and emergency response drills.
Knowledgeable in requirements and reporting to Health Department authorities of all notifiable communicable diseases and/or conditions.
Ensure proper maintenance of Infection Prevention patient database(s) using methods compliant with HIPAA.
Maintain current knowledge of and adherence to hospital, federal, state and local regulations, and OSHA and Joint Commission requirements pertaining to infection prevention.
Serves as a resource on infection prevention and control issues for staff, committees, patients, students, and the local community.
Serve as liaison and interface with all regulatory agencies and the healthcare community concerning infection prevention issues, to assure hospital compliance with infection prevention regulations.
Assume accountability for promoting consistent, positive patient interactions that advance the agenda of unparalleled patient service.
Promote awareness among staff regarding safe work practices, standard precautions, and use of personal protective equipment.
Facilitate the integration of principals of infection prevention into the planning of day-to-day activities of the hospital and evaluate risk for infection at all campuses.
TriStar Skyline Medical Center is a 250+ bed facility. We are Tennessee's first comprehensive stroke center and a national leader in neuroscience. In addition, we are equipped with 3 helipads, new ICU and Medical/Surgical floors, and burn care services. We offer a CARF accredited Inpatient Rehabilitation program and are an ACS verified Level I Trauma Center.
