The Sanmina Fremont facility is a full-service enclosure systems solution manufacturing plant. Located in California’s Silicon Valley, this facility produces low-to-mid volume New Product Introduction (NPI) runs to full-scale volume. The Fremont facility offers everything from small piece parts to fully integrated and tested systems. In addition, this location offers in-house painting capabilities and flexible logistics solutions in distribution, inventory management and hubbing, as well as repair services.

JOB DESCRIPTION:As the Fremont Fabrication Quality Manager, you will be responsible for developing a world-class quality department and driving plant-wide continuous improvement that results in unparalleled quality performance. You will have the opportunity to reinforce foundational quality principles, as we develop innovative manufacturing and inspection processes at the leading edge of automation and fabrication technology. This position will be responsible for managing, coordinating and administering all functions of the site’s Quality Management System, including receiving inspection activities, quality engineering, supplier quality management and the QC laboratory.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develops, implements, and maintains policies, procedures in compliance with corporate procurement systems.

Lead and mentor QA Department, consisting of quality engineers, receiving inspection, and QC personnel.

Be an outspoken advocate for Quality First throughout the plant.

Expediently and effectively communicate with customers on quality escapes, visits, escalations, etc.

Maintain and improve the site QMS (including NCR and CAPA system, internal audit, training, etc.).

Maintain the site QMS compliance with ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100:2016 by coordinating and responding to site certification audits.

Responsible for ensuring effective quality planning (including PFMEAs, process flows and control plans) for NPI and production parts.

Develop additional sources of quality data and track and report key Quality-related performance indicators (KPIs), including first pass yield and scrap rates.

Manage and improve supplier quality.

Be an advocate for lean and six sigma manufacturing principles and drive continuous improvement.

Drive cross-functional projects with manufacturing, supply chain, and engineering, to verify and validate existing manufacturing processes and capabilities.

Participate in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews with engineering.

Address customer escapes by driving cross-functional teams to develop and implement corrective actions.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Key focus is on leadership and motivation of staff, and contributing advanced quality engineering, supplier management, receiving inspection and quality control expertise.

Responsible for all Quality functions to ensure that the individual and group’s objectives and processes align with the overall business direction. Evaluates and supports employees to achieve their objectives, and removes barriers for success.

Manage and lead cross-functional teams.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s Degree required (Mechanical, Aerospace or Manufacturing Engineering preferred).

Minimum of 8 years of experience in quality engineering or related area in a manufacturing environment with exposure to the following manufacturing processes: sheet metal fabrication, welding, painting, complex electromechanical integration, and clean room assembly.

Experience with reading and interpreting GD&T requirements required.

Detailed knowledge and hands-on experience with quality tools including process flowcharts, FMEA’s, control plans, CAPA, RCCA and 8D required.

Experience working in an ISO 9001 and AS9100 certified environment required.

Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies including statistical analysis techniques (Design of Experiments, Statistical Process Control (SPC), etc.) preferred.

Experience with machining and system integration/assembly preferred.

Experience with CMMs and laser inspection systems preferred.

Certified Green or Black belt a plus.

Internal audit experience a plus.

Oracle (ERP) experience desirable.

Experience using Microsoft Office product suite required.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.

Salary Range (annual): $140,000 - $165,000.
