We have operations across the U.S. and Canada, so we're keenly aware of the potential impacts that existing and future operations may have on wildlife and their habitat. Therefore, we have environmental policies and programs in place at both the corporate and local levels to avoid and minimize these impacts and to address any remaining impacts through appropriate mitigation measures. As a member of the NextEra Energy Federal Wildlife Team, you will face different challenges every day, some of which will be extraordinarily complex. We ask our wildlife experts to work alongside multiple disciplines including engineers, developers, operators, permitting specialists, and policy professionals. You will feel a sense of pride in knowing that you are helping a leading clean energy company provide innovative solutions to wildlife challenges, big and small, and making a difference!Successful candidate will have:Extensive knowledge of projects related to wind, solar, and linear infrastructure (including transmission lines and pipelines).In-depth expertise in wildlife permitting issues on federal lands, including dealing with agencies such as BLM, USFS, WAPA, BPA, and others.Comprehensive understanding of the Endangered Species Act, particularly with experience in Section 7 consultations and Section 10 Incidental Take Permit applications.Capability to foster and maintain professional relationships with various groups including operational staff, developers, industry representatives, NGO stakeholders, agency personnel, and consultants.Skilled at public and official interactions, including participation in open houses, local zoning meetings, and other outreach events.Proficient in reviewing consultant outputs related to renewable energy and transmission wildlife issues.Offers strategic guidance on managing risks associated with protected species and habitats through avoidance, minimization, and mitigation strategies.Demonstrated experience providing NEPA support at both the Environmental Assessment (EA) and Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) levels.Willingness and ability to travel up to 30% of the time, often on short notice.Job Overview
Employees in this job are responsible for providing expert environmental support for new and existing facilities including due diligence, permitting, regulatory compliance, regulatory interpretation and development, and interface with Federal, State, and Regional agencies.Job Duties & Responsibilities
Supports the company's compliance with environmental requirements.Performs comprehensive environmental due diligence reviews.Assists with facility compliance audits.Conducts environmental licensing and permitting activities.Supports environmental aspects of company operations, such as compliance, reporting, monitoring, remediation, and environmental permitting functions.Monitors and analyzes environmental policies and regulations that affect the company and its customers.Provides the necessary support to staff to resolve environmental matters.Performs other job-related duties as assigned.Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree.Experience: 4+ years.Preferred Qualifications
