JOB SUMMARYThis person will be responsible for set-up, lay-out, assembly, and tack up, of a variety of metal pipe systems, including iron and steel. He/she must have the ability to select the type and size of pipe, and related materials and equipment, such as supports and hangers, according to specifications. He/she must plan the installation to avoid obstructions. He/she must cut the pipe, thread it, bend it and connect pipes and must also secure the pipes to the structure with brackets, clamps, and hangers.RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: Responsible for set-up, lay-out, and tack up of a variety of metal pipe systems Analyzes engineering drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations Cutting of pipes, using saws, pipe cutter, cutting torch and pipe cutting machine Threads pipe, using pipe threading machine Bends pipe, using pipe bending tools and pipe bending machines Assembles and installs variety of metal and nonmetal pipes, tubes, and fittings, including iron, steel, copper, and plastic Connects pipes, using threaded, caulked, soldered, brazed, fused, or cemented joints, and hand tools Secures pipes to structure with brackets, clamps, and hangers, using hand tools and power tools Removes rough spots from work piece, using portable grinder, hand file, or scraper Additional items as assigned by managerPRINCIPAL CONTACTS INSIDE/OUTSIDE THE COMPANYThis position interacts with organizational team members and supervisors.COMPETENCY OR POSITION REQUIREMENTS Demonstrated ability to set up, lay-out, and tack up various metal pipe systems Excellent problem-solving skills Ability to interpret blueprints, follow instructions, and achieve Blueprint Certification Ability to break down tasks to complete in a step-by-step process Demonstrated ability to fabricate mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum Must own tools for daily tasks Demonstrated attention to detail and precision in work Ability to break down tasks to complete in a step-by-step process Self-motivated; able to work with some supervision Must be able to work effectively as part of a team, specifically with the engineering organization Excellent time management skills Quality-minded All Armor employees are also expected to demonstrate Armor's core values of being: Customer-Focused Passionate about Work Solution-Oriented Driven by Integrity EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE High School Diploma or GED 2+ years fabrication and pipefitting experience in the metal manufacturing industry preferred Qualify as a Welder II or IIIEQUIPMENT USEDWelding machines, including Tig (AC and DC) and Mig Welder, Stick Welder, operate 4.5 inch and 7 inch angle grinder, plasma cutter, oxy-act torch, saws, pipe cutter and various clamps and fixturesWORKING AND PHYSICAL CONDITIONSLifting up to 50 lbs regularly and 75 lbs occasionally, pushing, pulling, standing for long periods of time, manual dexterity and visual acuity; ability to work for long periods of time standing up or in uncomfortable positionsThe Armor Group, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity/ Affirmative Action employer.
