I. JOB OVERVIEW
Job Description Summary:
The Division of Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) is seeking a Director, Office of the Vice President (OVP) Operations. DAR is responsible for leading the university's alumni and fundraising efforts and seeks to promote a culture of philanthropy throughout the university community, including alumni, students, parents, faculty, staff, corporations and foundations, patients and other friends. Our goal is to advance GWU's mission of excellence in education, research, scholarship, and patient care.
Reporting to the Managing Director, the Director of OVP Operations plays an integral role in helping to ensure that efforts across the university and division, relative to GW's top donors and prospects, are coordinated. This position works closely with key internal stakeholders and occasionally with high-level external stakeholders, and requires a high level of judgement, attention to detail, customer service, organization, and ability to multi-task and prioritize. The Director should be able to work with a high degree of independence and have the ability to learn quickly. The Director liaises with key university offices, including the Office of the President and Office of the Board of Trustees, to ensure high-level coordination on behalf of DAR. This includes managing the Project Coordinator, OVP, who handles the leadership request and scheduling process. The position requires a thorough understanding of donor and prospect backgrounds and strategic movement, and ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. The Director also supports presidential strategy and coordination for top prospects on behalf of DAR, including the execution of leadership travel and presidential salon dinners. Excellent communication and editing skills, both written and oral are necessary. A strong understanding of event and meeting planning is preferred.
Job Duties:Oversees leadership travel for DAR, including prioritizing donors and prospects for visits with the Executive Director and Principal Gifts team, coordinating and conducting outreach to donors and prospects, developing itineraries and briefings, and managing logistics.Plans presidential salon dinners in key markets, collaborating with colleagues in DAR and University Events to determine audience and coordinate logistics.Manages the Project Coordinator, Office of the Vice President, providing oversight for the leadership request, scheduling, and briefing process.Reviews, and at times writes, briefing materials in advance of meetings with the President, Provost, and Vice President.Acts as DAR's secondary liaison to the Office of the President, Office of the Provost, and Office of the Board of Trustees to ensure high-level communication and coordination.Drafts and edits written communications on behalf of the President and Vice President, as requested.Supports the Vice President by providing project management for her portfolio of donors and prospects in coordination with Research and Relationship ManagementPerforms other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 8 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master's degree or higher in a relevant area of study plus 6 years of relevant professional experience. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in increasingly responsible development/alumni positions desired. Prior GW work experience is desirable.Strong oral and written communication skills. Excellent attention to detail and project management skills with ability to multi-task.Ability to handle crisis situations and perform well under pressure. A high level of discretion and professional demeanor. High level of proficiency in key components of Microsoft Office suite of products is desired.
Hiring Range$88,562.15 - $128,379.87
