Job Summary:Cost Accountant oversees manufacturing activities, annual cost rolls, ensuring accurate recording ofcosts, analysis of variances, and adherence to accounting standards. This role involves collaborating withcross-functional teams and providing insights into cost management strategies. The Cost Accountantprovides financial support for manufacturing operations: budgeting and forecasting, process flowimprovements, inventory flows and analysis, production, capital programs.
Duties/Responsibilities:•Conduct detailed analysis of manufacturing costs and operational variances: materials, labor andoverheads.•Support the location's General Manager with all aspects of manufacturing process cost analysis.•Prepare and present detailed manufacturing and product cost reports and analysis.•Validate Monthly COGS data for assigned locations.•Perform reconciliations of cost accounts and general ledger.•Implement and maintain cost accounting policies and procedures.•Ensure compliance with accounting standards and industry regulations.•Support and ensure locations Process Control Policies.•Support the Cost Operations Director on cost management strategies.
Required Skills/Abilities:•In-depth knowledge of cost accounting principles and methodologies.•Strong analytical and financial modeling skills.•Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.•Proficient in financial software and Excel.•Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
Education and Experience:•Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.•3+ years of experience in cost accounting.•Experience in the cannabis or manufacturing industry is a plus.•Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics BC.
