Job SummaryDirects the accounts payable, receivable, project accounting, and internal controls for the Finance Department ensuring compliance with Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) standards.
Salary: $142,476.75Open Until Filled
Position Description
1. Directs and manages the accounting area, annual audit process, and compilation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR). Interprets and implements new GASB pronouncements as needed.
2. Oversees capital project accounting and the annual operating budget process.
3. Manages and creates automated reports and processes related to financial reporting. Oversees monthly reconciliations to ensure review and approvals have been completed.
4. Oversees the investment activity to ensure cashflow requirements are met and earnings are maximized.
5. Participates in strategic planning development and implementation for the Finance Department.
6. Supervises, coaches, mentors, and manages finance department staff to ensure assigned and delegated work activities are appropriate and complete while empowering employee responsibility, career development, and goal setting.
Requirements
REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION -Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
EXPERIENCE -Five (5) years of progressive accounting experience in a management position.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES - Requires knowledge of GASB and GAAP standards, revenue, expense, and financial analysis. Knowledge of budget preparation and forecasting.
Excellent human relations skills to include ability to build effective and productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical, planning and management skills. Excellent interpersonal skills to help build a cohesive team; engage stakeholders, partners, and customers in developing goals, executing plans and driving results.
Ability to comprehend and perform complex accounting and financial analysis. Ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness, and resourcefulness required in situations involving direction, control and planning of the Finance Department responsibilities. Ability to interact with others in a way that inspires trust, confidence, and integrity.
