Production Lead
is responsible for a production line or area to ensure production schedules are met and company standards and procedures are strictly followed. Ensure that equipment is properly set up and that all other make-ready functions are carried out prior to the start of production. Verifies and controls standard weights, maintains proper coding and reports any substandard equipment problems.Oversee the activities of production team members so that quality, sanitation standards, safety standards, production procedures, and scheduling requirements meet standards. Includes Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).Assign work to production employees. Follow up on assignments, monitor progress and make task-related decisions to meet quality and schedule requirements.Maintains discipline of employees under their jurisdiction, in accordance with established rules and regulations. Initiates verbal and written warnings and recommends further disciplinary action as required.Prepare reports concerning activities as required on a daily basis and assure that all reports are complete and accurate.Monitor and communicate with processors continuously regarding the blending of raw material mixes to ensure they are prepared in accordance with company standard formula and maintain consistency. Collaborate on any needed adjustments concerning moisture and texture, etc. Assures batches of filling are mixed and delivered on a just-in-time basis to maintain high consistency batch-to-batch with minimum deviation from formula.Monitor production processing records to assure all record keeping is in line with company procedures and monitors product line performance at requested standards.Monitor inventory levels three (3) days in advance to ensure scheduled production has needed raw materials available and in-house as required.Assures timely and proper storage of rework scrap. Schedules usage of rework scrap to keep levels reduced to a minimum.Train or delegate training of employees as required. Evaluate skills and performance of employees and make appropriate recommendations for improvement.Ensure employees follow all safety procedures.Make suggestions regarding improvements in production methods, including use of available personnel.Perform when necessary production tasks in conjunction with above responsibilities.Keep Production Supervisor/Manager informed of all situations, activities, and deviations from normal operations.Expected to quickly gain proficiency when new procedures, equipment, methods, etc., are added or changed.Promote a positive team oriented attitude.Maintain communication at shift change between production leads regarding any situations that may have or may impact production operation.Assure all company quality standards are maintained.Perform all other work as required.Position Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required1+ year machine operation experience in a manufacturing environment required6+ months leadership experience requiredBasic knowledge of basic math skillsAbility to read, write, and communicate effectivelyDemonstrated leadership skills, ability to effectively train, assign and monitorBasic understanding of HACCP and food safety concepts preferred#INDPOR
