JOB SUMMARYThe staff accountant is responsible for assisting the Finance Director by providing full scope accounting duties within the Center's accounting operations including implementing the accounts receivable/receipting and accounts payable/disbursements and ensuring the proper recording of transaction, providing timely and accurate reports and analysis of the Center's operating departments.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESAreas of responsibility include but are not limited to the following:Assist with the count of daily deposits for bank depositReconcile daily count deposits from membership systemEnter daily credit card payments, corp giving and offsetting entry of total daily sales to accounting system.Distribute invoices to Manager for approval.Research and resolve vendor invoice discrepanciesProcess invoices for Edit review and approval for the Kroc Officers and Finance DirectorPrepare Weekly Cash flow statementPrepare and perform check runs/distribution and mailing of checksHandle disbursements and reconciliation of petty cashAssist in THQ internal audit.Prepare the sales tax returnComplete the bank reconciliation with the first 3 days of the month.Review and reconcile the balance sheet.Follow and ensure adherence to The Salvation Army Policies, Procedures, and Code of EthicsMaintain regular and punctual workIn contacts related to this position's duties, this individual acts as a representative of The Salvation Army and its mission.

Bachelor's degree in accounting or a minimum of five years of professional general accounting or audit experience within an enterprise unit of an educational membership, faith-based or nonprofit entity with a budget of at least 8 million dollars.Experience:
Minimum of 2-3 years accounting experience with a background in general ledger, financial analysis and account reconciliation. Experience with fund accounting software and additional experience with membership or recreation management software is preferred.
Skills/Abilities:Financial statement preparation and analysis.Professional accounting code of conduct.Proficient with Microsoft Office products, with strong Microsoft Excel skills to design and update spreadsheets, as wells as other accounting software systems.Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)Must be able to manage projects, priorities and programs in a constantly changing environment.A willingness to promote the mission of The Salvation Army.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENTThis position requires sitting, climbing and /or balancing, stooping, kneeling, bending, stretching, crouching, use of vision, driving a vehicle, pushing/pulling/lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs and occasionally more than 25 lbs with assistance.May be required to work weekends and nights.
