Position Summary
Under direct supervision of the Operations Maintenance Supervisor, performs the overall custodial functions and cleanliness of the Pueblo of Sandia and related facilities, including heavy cleaning, in accordance with management directives. Custodial duties include cleaning work at any or all Tribal offices and buildings around the Pueblo, as needed or required.

Reports to the Operations Maintenance Supervisor. The Custodian has no supervisory authority
Major Duties and ResponsibilitiesUnder supervision performs custodial duties: dusting, vacuuming, trash disposal, clean and sanitize restrooms windows, mirrors, walls, doors, and carpets.Complies with Facilities Department Standard Operating Procedures.Under an emergency evacuation and fire, evacuates the building or voluntarily assists the Public Works Department in emergency evacuation procedures.Moving or lifting furniture and boxes.Cleans ceiling fixtures, through the proper and safe use of a ladder.Responsible for preventive maintenance of custodial equipment, and cleaning of equipment.Reports equipment repair requirements to supervisor.Trash disposal as required.Recycles used boxes as required.Serves as mentor when assigned. Training a new custodial heavy cleaner employee, during probationary period, using the buddy system.Performs additional duties and responsibilities as necessary or assigned.The above listed duties are intended to be general in nature and level of work performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position.Secondary Duties and Responsibilities
Occasionally on scheduled projects, perform extensive hard floor stripping, waxing, sealing, finishing, and buffing.Clean interior and exterior windows within their assigned facilities.Wash, scrub, and clean walls doors and entrances from nests, bugs, birds, and pests.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to work with others.Ability to operate tools and equipment used in the performance of custodial work.Ability to prepare custodial reports.Knowledge of general safety rules, requirements, procedures, and reporting requirements.Ability to communicate effectively and maintain good public and employee relations.Ability to lift minimum of 50 pounds.Ability to perform duties considering the full use of Personal Protective Equipment without restrictions.Knowledge of cleaning products and ability to understand the MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet)Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications, Education and Experience
Required:
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted New Mexico Driver's License.Preferred:
Custodial experience.Licensing Status
Must be able to successfully pass a stringent background investigation.Will require a post-offer, pre-employment and random drug screening.
