Carilion Clinic is seeking to recruit a full time Physician Assistant for our pain management practice. Prior experience in orthopedics or pain management is preferred but is not required. Role involves medication management follow ups, procedure follow ups and some interventional procedures under the supervision of a board certified anesthesiologist/interventional pain physician. Monday through Friday, 8am-4:30am.The Medical Specialty Physician Assistant has advanced knowledge and skills qualify her/him to function as a primary health care provider. She/he serves as a member of a collaborative health care team. This collaborative role includes responsibility for determining the patient's health and medical status by taking a health history; performing physical exams; initiating screening and diagnostic procedures; providing health maintenance services; and management of pregnancy, minor trauma, acute illnesses, and stable chronic illness. Consults with physician, as appropriate, keeping the physician informed of needs and problems related to patient care.What We Require:Education:

Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program required.

Experience:

Clinical experience appropriate to specific practice/ department preferred

Licensure/Certification:

Current Physician Assistants license (PA) required. DEA licensure required. AHA BLS-HCP certification required. Advanced life support is preferred and is required for those who may use a defibrillator in their practice.

Other:

Meets credentialing requirements. Qualifies for malpractice insurance and is accepted by Carilion Clinic's malpractice insurance carrier. Ability to work collaboratively with physicians and other health care providers. Maintains open and supportive communications between all department members and other employees, patients and their family members.
