Dr. Barta opened Barta Animal Hospital in January 1973 in a former automotive repair shop that he had remodeled. He built a new clinic in 1997. Dr. Barta grew his clinic from one doctor and two staff into today's successful, growing practice.
We are a true mixed animal practice, providing high-quality veterinary services in Southeast Kansas for pets of all sizes.
Position Purpose
We would love to welcome an additional Associate DVM who is interested in mixed animal medicine. This would be an excellent opportunity for an experienced DVM or new graduate looking for a personalized mentorship program!
Dr. Cooper is Barta's well known large animal doctor, focusing his services on obstetrics, herd health, numerous equine procedures and farm calls. He also very graciously cares for the local zoo animals at Independence's local FREE zoo! Dr. Cooper has been a staple of Barta for the last 14 years and continues to serve the community along side Dr. Wilczek who shares the large animal responsibilities and has benefited greatly from her mentorship with Dr. Cooper.
The practice is equipped with a hydraulic cattle chute, in house Idexx laboratory, digital x-ray and portable x-ray, brand new ultrasound and digital dental x-ray. We have a very relaxed nature and easy going staff.
Essential Responsibilities
Examine and treat companion animals to detect and determine the nature of disease or injuries.Operate diagnostic equipment and collect diagnostic samples as well as interpret results.Advise pet owners on preventative care and treatment options.Perform surgery and prescribe medication as needed.Provide counsel around pet end of life care.Maintain patients' medical records.Ensures compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statues, policies, and procedures.Requirements/Qualifications
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an accredited AVMA institution.Appropriate state licensure.Eligibility to obtain DEA/BNDD.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Demonstrates professional and courteous presentation consistently with staff and clients.Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance.Benefits Offered
