The TECO Energy Internship & Cooperative Education Program offers college degree-seeking students the opportunity for professional growth while meeting the business needs of the company. The program is an extension of the educational process, providing practical experience to complement formal classroom work. The co-op program recruits students from colleges to give them an opportunity to work in a professional environment related to their field of study.
Position Summary/Details:
Engineering Students will report to Energy Supply engineers and support a variety of technical projects ranging in complexity, scope, and time spans.
Accountabilities: As a successful candidate for our POSITION, you would:
Work Safe as a top priority.
Assist the station engineers with drawing updates and equipment labeling.
Support station engineers with site inspections and reports.
Support the station engineers with project development and implementation.
Attend and be engaged with daily operational plant meetings.
Maintain and/or create electronic databases for station support.
Assist station engineer with equipment assessments and troubleshooting.
Physical Location of Co-op: Big Bend Power Station 13031 Wyandotte Road, Gibsonton FL 33534
Preferred Availability: Full-time (40 hours) or Part – Time (30 – 40 hours)
Working Conditions: Combination of Power Station / Service Areas / Office Environments, hands-on. Willing and able to work at heights on raised walkways, etc. and work in industrial environments which can be dirty.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
The successful applicant should be enrolled in an ABET accredited university as a college undergraduate or a graduate level post-secondary educational program in a related discipline.
Co-Op Requirements:
To qualify as a co-op student, enrollment in the university’s co-op program (proof of enrollment required); if not eligible for co-op program (or program unavailable), the student will be considered an intern.
A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required.
Required Degree: Engineering
Related Discipline: Mechanical or Chemical Discipline
Year in School: Junior or Senior,
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Pursuing a BA in mechanical or chemical engineering with focus in power systems.
Previous industrial experience preferred.
Skilled using MS Excel and Word.
