OrthoIndy Hospital Northwest , located in Indianapolis, Indiana,provides outpatient care and inpatient care, with 10 operating rooms, 2procedure rooms and a 42-bed inpatient unit for patients undergoing moreinvasive procedures, such as disc replacement, spinal fusion or total hip andknee joint replacement. Other services include an urgent care,clinics, pre-op clinic, imaging and physical therapy.

General Statement of Duties :

The Occupational Therapist provides rehabilitative services and procedures when ordered by the Physician. Patient populations may include, but not limited to, post-operative management of hand and upper extremity pathologies as well as adult daily living activities training and related occupational therapy treatments to patients.

Essential Duties:Develops and implements pre-operative and post-operative rehabilitation exercise protocols for individuals based upon existing Physician protocol for the operative procedure performed or non-operative management of the pathology.Documents all treatment procedures and exercise, in addition to the patients' current status and changes in status in EMR.Recognizes changes in patient status and reports to the nursing staff and referring Physician. Communicates with Physicians and nursing staff regarding the clinical and functional status of the patient.Communicates with patient regarding status and prognosis in rehabilitation relative to the pathology that the patient is recovering from and the rehabilitative goals set forth by the patient. Educates the patient on the injury, disability, or impairment they are recovering from.Communicates with family member of patient regarding the patient's status and needs as it related to the patient becoming independent in adult daily living.Participates in the Therapy Department quality control internal audits.Responsible for organizing patient treatment times.Responsible for organizing, stocking, and cleaning the work area.

Requirements:Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy required; Doctoral Degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy preferredOccupational Therapy licensure requiredCertified Hand Therapist licensure preferredNo prior experience required; 1-2 years of related experience preferred
