The Dangerous Goods (DG) team is looking for a motivated Risk Manager with extensive regulatory experience, dangerous goods operational knowledge acting as a shipper, dangerous goods logistics experience acting as a carrier or freight forwarder, and a hands-on passion to dive-deep into processes to support Amazon’s growth in a safe environment for customers, partners, and associates.
Working across procurement teams, transportation services, delivery experience, returns and re-commerce, technology, environmental, storage, legal, public policy, and other relevant internal teams at a global scale, this Risk Manager will ensure the safety of our associates and transportation partners by delivering innovative solutions for the safe and compliant transportation of DG, redefining industry best practices and standards, and safely enabling an ever-changing borderless business model.
This Risk Manager will be required to plan and execute DG policies, controls, and processes to ensure safe and compliant transportation of DG across a global supply chain. Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, consultants and regulators, this role will be responsible for driving safety and compliance across customer deliveries and reverse logistics, enabling new selection, and expanding business and transportation models. This Risk Manager will need to develop accurate and relevant metric-driven safety and operational risks analysis to foster continuous improvement and step-function innovation that will enhance our internal and external customer experience.
Candidate must be seated in one of the listed corporate locations in the requisition.

• Support continuous improvement projects across global teams, ensuring Amazon is the leader transportation safety as a DG subject matter expert
• Work with Project Managers supporting a broad portfolio of projects aimed and building a best-in-class Dangerous Goods transportation solutions
• Drive process development and deployment for compliant dangerous goods shipments throughout the Amazon network both domestically and internationally
• Convert large and complex projects proposals into manageable pieces to deliver iterative improvements while focusing on longer-term, large-scale deliverables
• Build collaborative relationships with leaders across regions, departments and business units
• Refine existing program processes in order to more efficiently track and prioritize issues to enable the team to scale their work and address risks
• Anticipate project bottlenecks, manage escalations, make tradeoffs, and balance business needs versus operational or technical constraints
• Audit Amazon nodes , and contracted 3rd party service providers receiving, storing, and shipping DG items by developing mechanisms to insure compliance
Basic Qualifications
Must have 10 years experience shipping dangerous goods
Must hold current 49CFR and IATA Certifications
Must have 5 years experience performing Safety Risk Analysis

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $214,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
