The Opportunity
Provide consulting services and offer expertise and guidance on Operational Technologies (OT) transformation especially around Distributed Energy Resource Management System (DERMS), Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) and Enterprise OT-IT Integration.
As a Manager, you will manage and/or participate in a team of business and technology consultants in defining strategies and roadmaps, developing solutions and requirements, and supporting clients with their digital transformation needs (technology, business processes, data, and organizational readiness). This role has 80% delivery performance goal and 20% business development performance goal.
The Team
Black & Veatch’s Strategic Advisory & Lifecycle Resiliency Services
are an integrated portfolio of strategic consulting and operation resiliency services that apply across the client’s entire investment-to-operations lifecycle commitments. Included are Strategic Advisory, Industrial Cybersecurity, and Operating Assets.
Key Responsibilities
Manage client engagement for complex, transformational programs in advanced distribution infrastructure
Support development of business and technical strategy, business case and implementation plan for dispatchable DER, DER/DR programs, and DERMS
Lead client interviews and facilitate engagement among stakeholders in understanding DER management operating model, DERMS solution architecture, and Advanced Distribution Management Infrastructure
Work with clients to document and/or discover current and future states business processes
Provide functional and technical expertise in various aspects of Digital Grid, Operational Technology, and ADMS/DERMS
Perform and manage technical project work such as developing solution concepts, review of vendors’ design documents, requirements traceability
Support business requirements definition, request for proposal development
Support proposal evaluation, selection process, statement of work development and vendor contract negotiation
Lead and/or participate in system testing
Support or act as project manager to develop project plans, key milestones, and project control structure
Transfer knowledge, capabilities, and skills to improve others’ knowledge and skill levels
Business Development Responsibilities:
Contribute to the business development process as a subject matter expert (SME)
Support proposals and business development with utility clients
Create and/or support publication of thought leadership in areas of Digital Grid, Operational Technologies, and DERMS
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree or relevant work experience
7+ years experience in a business/consulting environment

Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree
Knowledge of DER capabilities (DER customer program, DER Integration, forecasting, dispatch, measurement & verification, etc)
Demonstrated expertise in Organizational Change Management, and Business Process Improvement
Deep knowledge of and direct experience in two or more solution areas: DER planning and Integration, ADMS, Outage Management System, Distribution Automation
Extensive Knowledge of Electric utilities operations functions and associated processes
Deep knowledge of System Architecture concepts, IT/Computing infrastructure, Telemetry infrastructure & protocols, RTUs, User Interface & Situational Awareness Trends, Information Storage & Retrieval technologies, and Operational Data Historian
Knowledge of DER standards including IEEE 1547, CIM 61968 / 61970, OpenADR, SEP2.0, IEEE 2030.5
Hands-on experience in DERMS, DER and/or VPP
Actively participated in at least two DERMS projects through the complete lifecycle including requirements development, design, systems integration & implementation and testing.
Familiarity with major industry trends and OT/ADMS/DERMS vendor solutions
Ability to travel up to 50%
