Director of Accounting

Our client, a local Commercial REIT and Acquisition company operating across several US states, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Property Accounting. This role will oversee all property accounting functions and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting for an extensive portfolio of approximately 100 properties, totaling 3 million square feet. The position reports to the COO.The company not only owns and manages properties but also assists with acquisitions and investments.Minimum Requirements:Bachelor's degree in AccountingAt least 10 years of accounting experience, including 3-4 years in a management role within commercial real estateStrong knowledge of GAAP and real estate accounting principlesProven ability to lead a team of 3 property accountants, fostering a culture of accountability and excellenceExperience managing all accounts payable and receivable, CAM reconciliations, tenant billing, and collectionsProficiency in reading, understanding, and interpreting lease agreements (including Gross and NNN)Experience ensuring lease and acquisition accuracyCAM reconciliation experience is requiredProperty management support experience is essentialBudgeting and forecasting experience is a mustInvolvement in strategic planning and decision-making processesDue diligence experience for acquisitions and dispositions is requiredKnowledge of AppFolio is a plus
