The YMCA Anthony Bowen is an anchor for the dynamic U Street Corridor community of Washington DC. We are currently seeking an experienced Wellness Director to lead our team. The Wellness Director is responsible for leading and managing the health and wellness programs and team. This role involves developing innovative wellness initiatives, ensuring high-quality member experiences, and fostering a community centered around health and wellness.
Exciting Responsibilities You'll Have as the Wellness Director:Develop and implement comprehensive wellness programs that meet the needs of Y members and the communityOversee day-to-day operations of the wellness department, including group exercise classes, personal training, and wellness programsRecruit, train, supervise, and evaluate wellness staff, including instructors and trainersMonitor and maintain wellness equipment, ensuring a safe and clean environmentCreate and manage the wellness budget, including tracking expenses and revenueDevelop and maintain relationships with community partners and health organizationsPlan and execute wellness events and programs to engage members and the communityMonitor member satisfaction and implement strategies for improvement.Stay current with trends and research in the field of health and wellness to ensure innovative and effective programmingDevelop and maintain relationships with members, addressing concerns and feedback to enhance member satisfactionCollaborate with other departments to promote YMCA programs and services.Provide mentorship and development to the wellness teamQualifications and Skills:

Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Health Promotion, or related field5 years of relevant experience in wellness programming and managementProven track record of creating innovative and relevant programs and services to meet community wellness needsStrong leadership and team management skillsExcellent customer service and interpersonal skillsAbility to work effectively with diverse populationsCertified Personal Trainer (CPT) or Group Exercise Instructor through a nationally recognized organization (e.g., ACSM, ACE, NASM)Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as neededBenefits of being a Y Leader:
