Summary of the Senior Accountant
This position will report to the Controller and be responsible for a variety of financial functions that include contract management, revenue recognition and analysis, balance sheet reconciliations, and creating Ad Hoc Management Reports, which are anticipated to be approximately 75% of the role. You will also contribute to the month-end process as well as assist during external audit and ERP implementation.
This is a hybrid role, working out of our Oak Brook, IL office.
Job Functions of the Senior AccountantFocus on partnering with key stakeholders (Sales, Legal, Sales Ops, Finance) on deals during the negotiation phase, advising on how to structure key terms, and communicating how revenue will be booked and recognized.Perform contract analysis review and prepare related revenue schedules to verify subscription contracts have been accurately recorded.Ability to apply critical thinking and flexibility in advising key stakeholders within the framework of ASC 606.Analyze trends in our customer base, including maintaining our customer revenue database.Ability to effectively manage the workflow to provide timely feedback and input while keeping management aware of key issues.Ownership of reconciliations and other processes within the revenue close cycle.Ensure timely and accurate reporting of key revenue data.Maintain accuracy of customers profiles in financial system, answering on contract related customers queries and developing positive relationships with clients.Assisting with cleaning and getting data ready to migrate to new ERPPerforming day-to-day accounting and maintaining accurate records related to transactions and reconciliations.Ad hoc duties as assigned.Requirements of the Senior Accountant
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in Accounting/ FinancePrevious experience in Accounting. preferably 3-5 years in Software-as-a-Service (SAAS) revenue accountingPublic accounting experience is a plusWorkday experience is a plusWorking knowledge of ASC 606 is a mustAdvanced Excel skills requiredHealth Care experience is a plusAccounting systems knowledge: experience with Workday is a major plusTeam player with strong interpersonal, communication and messaging skillsA highly productive self-starter with very strong work ethic and commitment to excellenceExcellent organizational skills and attention to detailAbility to work independently and ability to adapt to the rapid business and organizational changes that accompany a high-growth environment
