Description: We are looking for someone who enjoys working with students and driving.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalentMust be at least 18 years of ageObtain and maintain a minimum of a valid Class D3 Chauffeur's licensePass pre-employment and subsequent driving history checksPass pre-employment and periodic background history checksPass a pre-employment substance abuse screeningPass all random alcohol and/or drug testsPass all reasonable suspicion alcohol and/or drug testsWork well with others, including all personality typesEffective problem-solving skillsKnowledge of, or ability to navigate, Marion and surrounding areasHave and use effective verbal and written communication skillsEffectively manage student behaviorAccept and implement coaching and trainingConsistently perform thorough and accurate pre-trip and post trip inspections

Job Summary:

Safely transport students to and from school, activities, etc.Effectively and appropriately manage student behaviorsMaintain a cooperative attitude and build rapport with students, peers, supervisors, parents, school personnel, and the communityUse effective and professional verbal and written communication skillsPresent self in a professional manner including attire and being alert and attentiveSuccessfully complete all required trainings, meetings, classes and professional developmentWork together as a team to keep interior and exterior of vehicle clean, safe and presentableQuickly and safely evacuate vehicle in case of an emergencyCheck student roster to ensure proper ridershipMaintain current knowledge of all student requirements, such as medical protocols, IEP's, etc. and respond appropriately to events by following written protocolsWhile students are exiting, check vehicle for remaining/lost students, items, etc.Properly secure students in required safety equipment and restraints (i.e. booster seats, wheelchairs, harnesses, etc.)Safely assist non-ambulatory students into and out of the vehicleAccurately complete reports and paperwork in a timely manner. Including, vehicle maintenance requests, student behavior referrals, timecards, directions, etc.Abide by federal law, state law, and district policies, procedures, and expectationsUtilize technology when requiredConsistently perform thorough and accurate pre-trip and post trip inspectionsImmediately report accidentsEnsure vehicle is properly fueled according to department policyPrepare vehicle for student transport including inclement weather, harnesses, booster seats, etc.Safely and appropriately operate various types of vehicles and equipment including radios, and emergency equipmentReport any safety or maintenance concerns to appropriate personnel in a timely mannerReport all moving violations to Transportation Manager, including any received while on or off the clockClean van as designated by department proceduresOther duties, as assignedEnvironment:

Indoor/outdoor environment subject to changing temperatures including extreme heat and coldDirect contact with the public, students, and other district staffMay be exposed to heights, loud noises, fumes, dust, and other odorsMay be subject to tight deadlines and continuously changing priorities and interruptionsWork with moving vehicles, motorized wheelchair lifts and other equipmentPhysical Demands:
