DescriptionPosition Summary:This position is responsible for fulfilling the mission of Rochester Regional Health, Specialty Medicine and Surgery (SMS) clinical programs. Works with provider and operational leadership in each SMS service line to assure the delivery of state of the art clinical care. Operationalizes the core RRH values by developing and sustaining an environment which supports excellence in clinical practice and the care of the patients in all settings. Facilitates both clinical education and clinical investigation to advance the art and science of professional nursing practices. Promotes the development of nurse professionals, technicians and clinical support staff. Ensures consistency in the implementation of the philosophy of nursing, nursing standards of care and nursing scope of practice.Key Responsibilities:

Oversight of SMS service line Nurse Managers and subsequent clinical support staff.Collaborates with operational and provider leadership to provide the highest quality and most affordable patient care delivered with kindness, integrity and respect.

CLINICAL PRACTICE

Develops and sustains an environment that supports excellence in clinical practice and patient care.Develops, disseminates, enforces and maintains standard nursing best practices, projects, programs, policies and guidelines.Develops and promotes clinical support workflow standardization where applicable.Maintains a safe and caring environment for patients and staff; one conducive to positive health teaching and health maintenance.Defines appropriate clinical support skill mix and staffing ratios to support the SMS service line(s). Submits accompanying data and rationale to support these recommendations to the respective Vice President of Operations.Continuously reevaluates the effectiveness of the SMS service line's clinical support staffing models. Makes changes as indicated.Maintains knowledge of current research in nursing and health care in order to promote a spirit of inquiry concerning existing nursing practice and the development and testing of new approaches to nursing care. Accepts responsibility for self-development to remain cognizant of current trends and new methods within the nursing profession and the health care environment.Participates on committees, task forces, interdisciplinary and interdepartmental forums that are concerned with patient care and nursing practice.Supports and participates in educational and research programs of the RRH affiliates.Supports nursing research to promote clinical knowledge development and research-based clinical practice.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Communicates and models RRH values for patient care, clinical education and clinical investigation.Oversight of orientation and on-boarding of clinical support staff.Assures the on-going development of programs and provides support for all staff, novice to expert, to learn the skills required for their role and for their continued professional development.Assists staff to integrate their professional goals with those of the institution.Pursues a continuing program of self-development in order to maintain, strengthen and broaden own concepts, philosophy and abilities.

QUALITY/PI

Supports and facilitates SMS service line quality and performance improvement program. Facilities the identification of quality indicators that are most pertinent to the SMS service line goals.Promotes collaboration with provider and operational colleagues in establishing patient care goals.Develops programs and strategies to monitor the quality of nursing care and patient outcomes.Collaborates with other departments to establish expectations in relation to services needed (Infection Prevention, Pharmacy, Regulatory, Quality, Risk Management, etc).Facilitates the patient experience.

REGULATORY

Develops and guides all staff in regulatory preparedness efforts.Monitors and evaluates operations for licensure, accreditation and regulatory standards.Interprets regulatory standards and their applicability to individual service lines.

FINANCE

Partnering with key nursing, patient care, provider and operational leaders in support of strategic / capital planning requirements and clinical program development.Collaborates with operational leadership to prepare, monitor, and maintain approved budget in relation to clinical support salary and wage budget, clinical supply and expense operating budget and clinical capital equipment budget.Is knowledgeable about issues in health care economics that directly or indirectly affect cost/quality assessment.

Minimum Qualifications:

BSN required; MSN preferredFive (5) years' experience in a leadership position in a hospital and/or ambulatory setting.

Required Licensure/Certification Skills:

NYS RN License

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.PAY RANGE: $105,000.00 - $125,000.00The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future.
