What is it that we do at Colonial Pipeline Company?

Colonial Pipeline is the largest refined products pipeline in the United States, transporting more than 100 million gallons or 2.5 million barrels per day. Colonial transports various grades of gasoline, diesel fuel, home heating oil, jet fuel, and fuels for the U.S. military through a pipeline system. Colonial transports approximately 45 percent of all fuel consumed on the East Coast, providing refined products to more than 50 million Americans.

About the Senior Manager, Asset Optimization Position

As the Senior Manager, Asset Optimization you will lead the Colonial Pipeline Asset Optimization team to include Energy Management and DRA programs. These programs include ensuring efficient and cost-effective operation of the Company’s pipeline systems; optimize operating costs and reliability measures; Prime Power and DRA budget management; optimization of utility rates in support of Operations; utility vendor account management; new utility account setup and changes; Power/DRA metrics reporting and monitoring. The Senior Manager, Asset Optimization represents the Asset Optimization Programs to all levels of the business and actively works to deliver value by identifying and championing efficiency and optimization opportunities.

What You Get to Do:

Manage Asset Optimization’s budget to include Power and DRA with an annual spend of approximately $200MM+.

Prepare budgets, forecasts, accruals and supporting variance analysis for Financial Reporting.

Develop and manage performance based KPIs for the Asset Optimization Program.

Manage the team that will monitor the electricity markets and communicate market changes and impacts to leadership.

Support corporate environmental and sustainability strategy to address and achieve forward looking goals.

Manage the teams that will monitor and implement enrollment and participation in electric utility interruptible and Demand Response programs.

Direct the identification and evaluation opportunities to support environmental objectives through renewable energy projects and/or utility programs.

Work with Procurement to develop strategies for improving cost effectiveness of Asset Optimization.

Manage and work with Accounts Payable on all aspects of Asset Optimization invoice processing.

Work with Central Maintenance Planning, Scheduling and Control Center Operations to effectively plan for, manage and optimize asset optimization to include utility planned outages, demand response curtailments and/or utility interruptible events.

Support requests from Commercial Affairs for Asset Optimization cost analyses.

Develop and maintain internal Asset Optimization business systems and optimization models.

Identify and evaluate Asset Optimization project opportunities to reduce risk, create long-term value, and grow the company.

What You Bring to the Table:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study for an accredited college or university; will consider a combination of experience and/or education.

Ideally 5+ years of experience in the energy industry, 3+ years of experience in pipeline operations, and 1+ years of leadership experience.

Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.

Advanced understanding of asset optimization to include energy contracting rates, tariffs, and deregulated markets.

Strong understanding of the pipeline industry and Colonial’s business processes.

Understanding of basic hydraulic and electrical engineering concepts.

Ability to communicate, apply analytical skills, and manage interpersonal working relationships.
