J.E. Brown & Associates seeks a motivated candidate for our part time Underwriter opportunity. This individual is responsible for servicing complex P&C policies with admitted and non-admitted carriers. May assist Product Specialists with inspection review, endorsements, policy documentation, renewal offers, processing and invoicing.

This role will work 25 hours per week at a pay range between $32-$36 per hour.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Service new and renewal business through the following primary responsibilities:Use critical thinking, understanding of the market and underwriting best practices to determine individual risk acceptability, pricing, best coverage, terms and conditions within established authority and carrier guidelines.Provide clear communication and documentation of rationale for decisions and options.Review inspection reports to confirm eligibility and accuracy of risk presentation; communicate required action and present solutions as needed to maintain profitability and retention.Collect proper documentation and forms to maintain customer files accurately and consistently in accordance with department workflows and procedures.Collect and review Surplus Lines forms for accuracy and completeness.Assist customers in servicing accounts; respond to inquiries in a timely and professional manner.Ensure all renewal documentation is sent within the appropriate time frames.Prepare and submit complex invoicing requests accurately and in a timely manner.Invoice agency bill policies, document communication and file all relevant forms in the agency management system.Work with accounting and product specialist teams to process accounting corrections as needed.Assist teammates in servicing accounts; respond to inquiries in a timely and professional manner.Assist Product Specialist Team with quote and policy preparation, binding, delivery and follow up.Perform routine clerical tasks including typing, data entry, filing and answering calls related to invoicing.Identify potential errors and omissions exposures and implement procedures which will minimize or eliminate same.Pursue a program of personal and professional development.Other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED :

3-5 years of underwriting experienceE&S wholesale experience (preferred)Current California State Insurance License and appropriate Non-Resident LicensesWorking knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, & Outlook)Working knowledge of carrier websites (preferred)Experience with Agency Management Software Systems
