SUMMARY

Under the clinical supervision of a supervising physician, the incumbent is a certified Physician Assistant who possesses advanced training/skills in assessing, diagnosing, and treating the well patient as well as the patient with acute illness and disease. Works in a collaborative team practice that recognizes the patient as the central focus. Supports the physician in situations requiring physical assessment and complex communications with patients. Serves as a patient educator in areas of specialization.

This position is within the department of gastroenterology. We are an exclusive outpatient practice with a balanced schedule that provides an optimal work life balance. A combination of remote and in-person patient visits allows flexibility in designing the work schedule. There is a diverse group of gastroenterologists and physician assistants. Our practice provides compassionate, evidence-based care for a wide variety of gastrointestinal conditions including specialized areas such as Inflammatory Bowel Diseases and Metabolic liver diseases. We collaborate with renowned academic programs in the Boston area to provide unparalleled access to quality care. Our department provides many opportunities for PA (Physician Assistants) career development and weekly educational programs.

EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

Graduate of nationally accredited, Masters-level Physician Assistant program. Possesses/eligible for national certification as a Physician Assistant. Possesses/eligible for licensure as a Physician Assistant in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Possession and maintenance of or eligibility for DEA and Mass DPH Controlled Substances Registration. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required based on specialty.

EXPERIENCE

Two years of experience with strong preference for experience as a Physician Assistant within gastroenterology, colorectal surgery, rheumatology, and oncology.

SKILLS

Good organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy clinical environment. Exceptional customer service skills. Above average oral and written communication skills.

Demonstrated ability to work independently. Ability to effectively communicate and work with physicians, residents, nurses, patients, families, staff, other health care professionals, and management. The ability to work as a team member is necessary for this position.
