Financial Analyst

Newtyn Management, LLC seeks a Financial Analyst in New York, NY to identify relevant macro drivers of fundamental metrics and stock prices and project financial and operational results of companies. Requires a Bachelors degree in Finance, Mathematics, Statistics or related field or equivalent, and three (3) years of experience matching risk at a hedge fund and performing financial analysis related to equities, private equity and short- and long-term credit; utilizing and integrating Bloomberg, CapitalIQ, Visible Alpha, Excel, Tegus and unstructured association data to gain insight into underlying businesses and important data points; applying GAAP and IRFS accounting principles to find irregular transactions and practices within domestic and international public filings; identifying false positives in data using qualitative and quantitative techniques, depreciation schedules, related party transactions, and undiscovered lawsuits; performing capital analysis and receivables analysis and quantitively building screens in Bloomberg and CapitalIQ; underwriting illiquid and complex investments, including bankruptcies, fraud and mergers and acquisitions; performing leveraged buyouts (LBOs), discounted cash flow analysis, sum-of-the-parts and relative valuation analysis in Excel; and evaluating life insurance, workers compensation insurance, P/C Insurance, banks and consumer staples.
