The Department of Rehabilitation Therapies at the University of Iowa Health Care North Liberty Campus is looking for a Senior Physical Therapist to evaluate and treat patients with complex physical dysfunctions, disorders and/or injuries. This is a weekend option position and will be assigned to the inpatient orthopedics setting.

Position Responsibilities:

Provide quality patient care, evaluation, assessment, and treatment appropriate for patients with complex or specialized orthopedic/post-surgical needs.Participate in the development of innovative clinical teaching activities to meet the learning needs of staff and students.Exhibit divisional and/or departmental leadership by: Serve as a clinical resource and maintain high level of clinical productivity.Participate in clinical research and collaborate on special projects.Assist with setting and accomplishing divisional/departmental goals and assists management as necessary.Develop, implement, and expand learning opportunities and skills development for staff and students.Assist in establishing new programs, as well as maintaining and developing current programs.Assist in the administration of the departmental Quality Assurance Program.Participate in the development of service operations, policies, and procedures.Demonstrates respect for all members of the University community while performing one's duties and I response to administrators, supervisors, coworkers, and customers.Welcomes the richness of talent from a diverse workforce and recognizes that diversity brings stimulation, challenge, and energy that contribute to a productive and effective workplace.Represents the interests of the University of a unit leadership in the use of resources to meet service and productivity demands within unit goals and budgets; strives to promote continual process and quality improvement.Seeks opportunities to enhance one's own professional knowledge, skills, and abilities as they relate to one's current position and/or to prepare for potential future roles and overall career development.Performs special projects and tasks as assigned.The new University of Iowa Health Care North Liberty Campus will open in the Spring of 2025. This 469,000 square foot facility will be home to UI Health Care's nationally recognized Orthopedics service line, offering comprehensive, coordinated, and accessible care across the outpatient, inpatient and surgical venues. These state-of-the-art clinical facilities will also include a full-service community imaging center, laboratory services, physical therapy, occupational therapy, retail pharmacy, and emergency department as well as an array of support services. The facility has been designed to support a superior patient and staff experience; excellence across our patient care, teaching and research missions; convenient access to services; and engaging community partnerships. Weekend Option Program:

The selected candidate will be required to work a specified weekend work schedule, which includes 24 hours each weekend. During each six-month period, you will be scheduled for 24 weekends, with two (2) weekends off - to be arranged with the manager. Participation in the program requires a minimum commitment of six (6) months. As part of the program, you will receive a differential for hours worked between 3:00pm Friday and 7:30am Monday. The weekend option differential is fifty percent (50%) of the regular hourly rate. You may also be eligible for shift differential for eligible hours.

Required Qualifications:

A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy or a Bachelor's degree in another field and a Physical Therapy Certificate is required.Reasonable (2 or more years) experience as Physical Therapist in an acute care hospital setting with a high degree of understanding and skill in one or more areas of assigned responsibility.Demonstrated clinical educational abilities.Demonstrated leadership experience in a work or academic setting.Demonstrated ability to function as part of a multidisciplinary team.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Licenses/Certifications:

Licensure in accordance with the Iowa Board of Physical and Occupational Therapy is required.Desirable Qualifications:

3+ years of experience as Physical Therapist with advanced understanding and skill in providing physical therapy primarily to adults in an inpatient acute care setting.Reasonable (1-3 years) experience in evaluation and treatment of patients in inpatient orthopedics.Ability to practice in an autonomous manner.Demonstrated efficiency in the provision of patient care.Demonstrated effort to enhance one's own knowledge, skills and abilities.Demonstrated program/service development or quality improvement projects.
