JOB SUMMARY:
Cox Communications is seeking to add two new directors to their Strategy Planning team. These
Strategic Planning Directors
will join a team focused on supporting Cox Communications' Residential Core and Cox Media businesses. They will be a critical member of the leadership for the cross-functional businesses they support. The director will partner with executives to help shape their strategy to drive organizational success and achieve both short- and long-term results.
This role is responsible for providing strategic direction and guidance to ensure the organization is best positioned to achieve its goals. Key focus areas will be around aspects of the core business, including development of strategies related to customer value proposition, video strategy, connectivity businesses, media advertising, business transformation, as well as focusing on key segments such as MDU.
Primary responsibilities and essential functions:
Key Responsibilities:
Drives all aspects of strategic planning activities in scoped areas in partnership with their executive team and other key stakeholders.Drives strategy alignment with both the immediate and long-range plans, including the 10-year ambition and vision for the business.Partners with leaders to guide the planning processes that produce our strategic roadmap and priorities for targeted Residential Core and Cox Media focus areas; ensure alignment with our company-wide planning processes and milestones.Oversees the development of short-, medium-, and long-term strategic roadmaps, and ensures alignment with operating, resource allocation, and financial plans and targets.Leverages understanding of customers, markets, and technologies to define and strategy.Engages with senior leaders, consulting on and influencing strategic decision making.Works with key partners to implement strategies and strategic roadmap elements.Assesses complex, strategic opportunities and threats and recommend actions to be taken on issues such as: new opportunity spaces and growth levers, go-to-market approach, competitive response, customer experience and retention strategies, and product roadmaps.Works with internal and external colleagues and sources to monitor our environments for impactful trends and provide perspective on impact to the business; translates trends into actional data insights that are useful in driving decision-making that impacts, strengthens, and moves the business forward.Uses creative and innovative approaches to conduct market and competitor research to identify possible threats and opportunities and to inform strategic decision making.Supports change management and employee communication activities, where needed to help share the strategy and the business drivers supporting it.Qualifications
Skills and Requirements:
Minimum
BA/BS degree in business or a related field (Marketing, Business, Operations, etc.) with at least 10+ years' experience in strategic planning or consulting; OR 14 years of equivalent experience without a degree.5+ years' experience in a management or leadership roleExperience with one or more of the following:
Subscription business models.Capital lite and capital-intensive businesses.Broadband and/or wireless businessesMedia advertising.
Demonstrated experience assisting leaders with creating strategic plans that align with short and long-term goals and objectives.Strong knowledge of strategic planning and organizational development.A track record of accomplishments delivering and supporting executive level initiatives.The ability to think strategically and the ability to manage complex problems and initiatives.Demonstrated ability to excel in a fast-paced, changing environment, and to quickly pivot to address changing priorities.Demonstrated business acumen; strongly connected to and embedded in the businesses they support to ensure a deep understanding of what they do, their importance to the business, their internal and external risks, and opportunities, and their short- and long-term impact.Experience with strategic planning and development processes, frameworks, and tools.Can synthesize and simplify detailed and sometimes ambiguous inputs from a variety of sources.Exceptional communication, negotiation skills, and interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to collaborate across organizations.Strong storytelling abilities using graphics and other methods and tools.Possesses a customer centric approach to their partnership with the business.Influential with recommendations and solutions to drive operational change to achieve ambitions.Self-directed, highly motivated, and objective-driven; high degree of personal accountability and ownership.Proactive approach; drives work with a sense of urgency and responsibility.Understands the matrixed organization and operates well within it.Preferred
MBA, MS or an advanced degree in a related discipline such as business, finance, economics, marketing, technology, etc., or PhD with 5+ years of experience in a related discipline.Strong understanding and working knowledge of the telecommunications and media industries.Prior experience with management consulting firm(s) focused on strategy development and execution.Experience managing others.
USD 156,200.00 - 260,400.00
Compensation:
Compensation includes a base salary of $156,200.00 - $260,400.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

The Company offers eligible employees the flexibility to take as much vacation with pay as they deem consistent with their duties, the company's needs, and its obligations; seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year; and up to 160 hours of paid wellness annually for their own wellness or that of family members.
