Position Details:

Contract Length: 13 weeks (+ability toextend)

Number of Openings: 6

Start Date: 11/18

Hours/Shifts/Schedules: 36 (3x12's) / Day/Night rotation or straight Nights

*Willwork every OTHER weekend/holiday

Setting:

Postpartum unit

Position Requirements:

Minimum 2 years of RN Obstetrics, Postpartum, and/or Labor &Delivery experience

Mother/Baby experience

Active DC RN license

BLS, ACLS, and PALS (AHA), NRP

TheRegistered Nurse assumes responsibility and accountability for the applicationof the nursing process and the delivery of patient care for obstetricpatients. The RN demonstrates the ability to make clinical judgments inan effective and efficient manner with supervision. The RN demonstratescritical thinking and performance ability in the coordination of patientcare. The RN consistently performs according to nursing standards and isaccountable in managing patient care and assisting others in the management ofpatient care.

Essential Duties andResponsibilities:

Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care

Assess signs and symptoms indicating physiologic and psychosocial changes in the patient’s condition

Collects, analyzes and interprets data and information from health care members and documents actual and/or potential nursing diagnoses

Performs admitting assessments, reviews history and develops plan of care

Initiates fetal heart monitor, performs vaginal exams, interprets fetal heart tones and determines frequency duration and intensity of contractions

Monitors progress of laboring mothers, interprets fetal heart monitor and notifies physician when appropriate for progress or problems

Plans for expected outcomes of care for those patients assigned

Performs interventions according to identified priorities, plan of care, and the hospital policies and patient care outcome standard

Provides a safe, comfortable and therapeutic patient environment

Compares expected and actual outcomes of care and identifies deviation from the plan of care

Uses clinical judgment in evaluation activities to meet patient care needs and assigned unit/floor including establishing priorities

Monitors the safety and effectiveness of the environment and equipment

Communicates pertinent information about patient, nursing unit, and activities as appropriate

Performs other duties as assigned/necessary

Minimum Requirements:

Current Registered Nurse license within the state of practice.

Minimum one year obstetrics experience preferred.

Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice

Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable

Current CPR if applicable

TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable

Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)

Must meet all federal, state and local requirements

Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site

Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements

Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required

Computer proficiency required

Must be at least 18 years of age
