Position Title:Occupational Therapist - Oklahoma Children's Hospital- Neonatal/Infant Department:Pediatric Rehab Services Job Description:
General Description:Under general supervision, performs professional Occupational Therapy activities consisting of planning, evaluating, establishing and implementing individual and group treatment activities under the direction of a physician.Essential Responsibilities:Responsibilities listed in this section are core to the position. Inability to perform these responsibilities with or without an accommodation may result in disqualification from the position.Interpret a physician's referral and select an appropriate standardized evaluation procedureEvaluate patient in the following areas: independent living skills, occupational performance, prevocational work adjustment, educational skills, play-leisure abilities, social skills and various psychosocial skillsInterpret the data and develop a treatment plan involving short and long term goals, frequency and duration of treatmentAssist patient in carrying out these procedures through the design and fabrication of adaptive equipment and orthotic devices, joint protection and body mechanicsInform patient and family goals and progressAssist with discharge planning by ordering equipment and instructing patient on home therapy planMay supervise studentsGeneral Responsibilities:Performs other duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications:Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy.Experience:
NoneLicense(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required:
Current license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision as an Occupational Therapist
OR
eligible to sit for the exam. License must be obtainedwithin six (6) months of hire. Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Knowledge of the principles and practices of professional occupational therapy and the materials and supplies utilized in the program. Skill in organizing and instructing occupational therapy activities. Ability to interpret prescriptions related to therapy needed. Good interpersonal skills in establishing effective working relations with staff. Ability to communicate instructions and technical information to patients.
