Job Description
The Occupational Therapist assesses plans, organizes, and participates in rehabilitative programs that improve mobility, relieve pain, increase strength, and decrease or prevent deformity of patients suffering from disease or injury. Through the use of physical and functional assessments, level of dysfunction is identified; plan of care is determined and documented. This position implements care plan through the use of evidence based modalities and skilled interventions to increase patients' ability to achieve mutually established functional goals. The occupational therapist educates the patient/caregivers in treatment and care to engage patient in being an active participant in continuing activities at home. This position monitors and evaluates outcomes related to the assessment and plan of care.
Responsibilities
Completes evaluations of assigned patients in accordance with the established standards of care and practice.Plans and provides treatment to assigned patients as appropriate in accordance with established standards of care and practice.Coordinates patient care with other clinical team members ensuring optimal patient care and communication as noted in the clinical record.Completes all required documentation of services per department standards.Maintains and enhances personal knowledge as well as promoting professional standards in Occupational therapy.Monitors the treatment activities of COTA's and aides.Supervises students after one year of experience.Is responsible for legibly and accurately completing stat sheets and charge slip for each patient seen by the end of their work shift.Qualifications
Minimum Education
Bachelor's Degree Occupational Therapy Required orMaster's Degree Occupational Therapy RequiredLicenses and Certifications
Occupational Therapist Licensed State of Florida Upon Hire RequiredBLS for Healthcare Providers (BLS) American Heart Association Upon Hire RequiredRequired Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Excellent communication and people skillsKnowledge of industry best practices and guidelinesExcellent organizational skills required.Excellent written communication and documentation skills.Maintain current knowledge of regulations, policies and proceduresStrong attention to detail.Ability to motivate others.Excellent customer service skills.
