The group conducts thorough failure analysis investigations to identify and present critical safety and reliability risks to suppliers as well as design, manufacturing, research, and safety teams.

Responsibilities

Support routine Energy Quality activities at Gigafactory New York, including: Assist in the identification and resolution of manufacturing and design issues by participating in and leading root cause analysis investigations. Support incoming quality tasks to ensure manufacturing capability and product reliability. Manage non-conforming cell material flow and material disposition while working closely with internal and external teams to quickly identify and resolve any cell-related issues. Utilize specialized lab equipment to perform detailed, thorough failure analysis procedures. Participate in audits of Tesla and supplier systems to maximize effectiveness of the team's root cause analysis techniques, documentation, and presentationsWork cross-functionally with design, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and research teams to conduct investigations and analyses in support of various Energy Engineering projectsParticipate in and lead continuous improvement and training activities within the team as well as with cross-functional teams and suppliersIndependently and accurately collect, analyze, and interpret data to provide actionable feedback to suppliers as well as design, manufacturing, quality, and research teamsAnticipate and identify potential problems, take preventative action, communicate, and present lessons learned to team members and cross-functional groupsRequirements

Strong motivation to learn advanced physical, electrochemical, and thermodynamic theory and processes as they pertain to Li-ion technology and cell failure analysisExtremely detail-oriented with exceptional documentation, organization, and interpersonal skillsAbility to quickly learn and use technological tools and proprietary applications to record, interpret, and manage data with strict accuracyHands on experience inspecting and disassembling small componentsKnowledge of basic physics, chemistry, and electrical theoryExperience working in an ambiguous, dynamic, and fast-paced environmentCommand the english language, both written and verbalCompensation and BenefitsBenefits

Engineering Technician I - $25.92 - $28.90/hour+ cash and stock awards + benefits
