Position Type: Maintenance/Custodial/Electrician Date Posted: 10/2/2024 Location: Lincoln Cultural Center Date Available: 11/01/2024 District: Kankakee School District 111 - website Electrician- Skilled Maintenance for Kankakee School District 111 12 Month Full Time Position Reports to: Director of Maintenance Job Goal: To assist in the attainment of safe mechanical readiness of Kankakee School District 111 facilities and equipment through regular maintenance and repair. To effectively achieve the goal of total district compliance through the provision of efficient maintenance services. Maintain a positive working relationship with all coworkers and staff. Practice open communication with all administration to insure adequate understanding of all expectations. Continuously challenge yourself to find better ways of accomplishing your assigned duties. Qualifications: 1. High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent 2. Ability to follow instructions. 3. Trade or industry experience obtained through on the job experience, apprenticeship, and/or trade school or related education. 4. Ability to learn, understand and work with applicable regulations. 5. Knowledge of safety measures regarding use of standard chemicals related to maintenance activities. 6. The ability to communicate verbally and in writing with all staff members, students, and parents as required. 7. Good hearing and eyesight with the ability to distinguish color discriminations and depth perception are necessary. 8. Ability to work with minimal or no supervision. Physical Demands I Working Conditions of all Custodial Positions All positions involve: Continuous lifting or carrying, pushing or pulling of 1 - 20 lbs. Standing, walking, bending or stooping Ability to work on one's feet for a full 8 hour shift Hand-wrist and elbow motion Frequent lifting or carrying, pushing or pulling of 21 - 60 lbs. Reaching abovor below shoulder level Operating multiple powers tools and equipment Occasional pushing, pulling or lifting of61-130 lbs. using a dolly or lifting of this weight with the help of others. Climbing of stairs, ladders, ramps or working at heights Ability to work with power tools in a safe and effective manner. In addition, it is required that all custodial and /or maintenance employees take acceptance of the training on: 1. Bloodborne Pathogens 2. Asbestos Awareness 3. Right to Know 4. Sexual Harassment 5. Proper lifting techniques 6. Basic First Aid 7. CPR 8. Other programs as the law or Kankakee School District 111 requires. All employees, with instruction, are expected to: 1. Know the location of Material Safety Data Sheets that are available in all buildings 2. Understand their purpose 3. How the information is laid out 4. Have the ability to utilize the information as needed Electricians Expectations 1. Correct wiring problems and/or restore power to district equipment as needed 2. Maintain the electrical integrity of all heating/cooling/ventilation equipment 3. Maintain and repair building energy management and security systems. 4. Repair all electrical devices and equipment as needed and as applicable. 5. Maintain and repair when needed all district telecommunication equipment. 6. Maintain and repair the district's clock and timekeeping system including the programming of bells at each facility as needed. 7. Maintain and repair all lighting fixtures. 8. Relamp outdoor and some indoor fixtures that is not accessible to our custodial staff. 9. Work as a team with all skilled maintenance as well as other staff members as situations arise that require exceptions to normal duties. 10. Respond efficiently, effectively and immediately if required, to service requests made by the Director and Asst. Director of Maintenance.
