OVERVIEW:
The Janitor position works under the supervision of the Shelter Director to assist in cleanliness for the Harbor House Family Emergency Shelter.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Ensure floors remain clear of all tripping and other hazardsMaintain and ensure all floors are clean, swept, mopped, and/or vacuumedMaintain and ensure all restroomsClean designated building areasPerform and document routine inspectionFollow all health, safety regulations, and chemical storage and hygiene best practicesEmpty trash receptacles, recycling and compost binsEnsure unused areas of the building are locked for safety and securityOther related duties as requiredEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or equivalent (required)Experience in janitorialSKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of cleaning equipment, chemicals, and appliancesKnowledge of safe disposal of chemical liquids and hazardous componentsAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionStrong organizational skills and attention to detailEQUIPMENT USED:
Modern Office Equipment and Relevant SoftwarePHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
