Position Title: Driver
Reports to: Chief Operating Officer

Summary:
Responds to select requests for transportation at various hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, private homes, etc and provides safe and efficient transportation to and/or from.

Demonstrates and ensures knowledge, understanding, and compliance of Community Health Care policies and proceduresEnsures that the vehicle and equipment is ready for use at the beginning of the shift and after every call. This includes appropriate cleaning and disinfecting of the interior and exterior of the vehicle; appropriate cleaning and disinfecting of equipment; inspecting, restocking, and completing daily checklists of the vehicle and equipment; and routine maintenancePerforms daily inspections of the base and/or station for cleanlinessResponds to and from select requests for transportation using appropriate care and caution in accordance with Medicaid regulations, Tennessee law, Company policy, and the principles of safe vehicle operation. Note: as per Community Health Care policy, always wears a seatbelt when in company vehicleAssures patient safety in accordance with the rules, regulations, protocols, policies and procedures of Community Health Care including the laws and regulations of the State and Federal Governments consistent with good judgment and the provision of high-quality patient careAlways acts in the best interests of high-quality patient care, in the best interests of the patient, and in such a manner to reflect credibly on Community Health Care and the professional reputation of the DriverAlways acts with his/her personal safety in mind as well as the safety of all other passengers, professional and/or medical staff, family members, the patient, and any other personnel presentAccompanies patients to their destination, continuing to provide appropriate care and patient advocacy. If appropriate, this should continue until the responsibility for the patient has been transferred to an appropriate personCompletes all appropriate documentation and record keeping for every assignmentAdheres to universal Precautions when dealing with patient contacts. Is family with and practices the Infection Control policies and procedures of Community Health CarePerforms duties related to public relations and community education programs sponsored by Community Health Care.Performs duties related to the continuing improvement and development of Community Health CarePark vehicles in a secure location free of a public wayNo on-street parking. Lock all doors and windows prior to leaving the vehicleAvailable for dispatched calls at your specified reporting timeReport to a specified base location at the end of each day to turn in all completed paperwork, checklists, and other pertinent documentationClean interior and exterior of your assigned vehicle each dayComplete a vehicle checklist each daySupervision Provided by This Position: None
Physical Demands/Conditions:
The essential physical activities for this position involve the following: balancing, pulling, pushing, standing, stooping, crouching, kneeling, sitting, and operating an ambulance. An individual in this position will be required to push, lift, and carry patients weighing ranging up to 250 lbs
The ability to lift and maneuver 200 pounds with assistance without difficulty.The ability to walk up and down stairs without difficulty and the ability to lift and carry 200 pounds up and down two flights of stairs with assistance without difficulty.The ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.The ability to walk a distance of one quarter of a mile without difficulty and without affecting the immediate performance of job-related duties.Agreement and Understanding:
While working on an ambulance, the Ambulance Driver shall be paired with a medical provider with the minimum certification of Emergency medical Technicial - EMTBThe EMT shall ride in the patient compartment with all patientsMust be comfortable operating the following equipment while supervised: Ambulance: stretcher; folding stretcher; radios and computerized communications equipment; pager; fire extinguishers; simple mechanics tools; other related equipment not specifically listed may be added as new items are introducedDrives ambulance in Basic Life Support (BLS) setting only, to provide safe and efficient transportation of ill or injured persons to the hospital or facility for medical attentionProvide transportation for convalescent patients to and from nursing homes, medical facilities, medical appointments, etc; BLS setting onlyThe Company hereby employs the Employee as a Full-Time Driver, and the Employee agrees to diligently perform all duties and responsibilities associated with this role, including the transportation of patients in accordance with Company policies, standards, and applicable laws.Requirement to Obtain EMR/EMT License
As part of the Employee's role as a Full-Time Driver, it is a mandatory requirement that the Employee obtain a valid Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) License within 1 year of the hire date.
Conditions and DeadlinesThe Employee must enroll in an accredited EMR or EMT training program no later than 6 months after hire date.The Employee must successfully complete all required courses, training, and exams necessary to obtain an EMR or EMT License.Proof of obtaining the EMR or EMT License must be submitted to the Company no later than 1 year after hire date
Consequences of Non-Compliance
Failure to obtain the EMR or EMT License within the specified period will result in termination of employment. The Company reserves the right to terminate this Agreement immediately upon such failure, unless the Company, at its sole discretion, grants an extension in writing due to extenuating circumstances.
