The Shuttle Bus Operator is vital to the logistics and overall success of the UPMC health plan. In this role, you'd benefit from weekday schedules with a new and improved shift differential program that allows you to earn extra money! Our drivers work full-time, year-round, with multiple shift types available. We offer modern, environmentally-friendly vehicles and we place a high priority on the safety of our drivers and passengers.

As a Shuttle Bus Operator, you will operate a shuttle bus or a van on assigned routes, maintain documentation on ridership, conduct safety checks, and clean the vehicle. This person must be committed to establishing relationships with other UPMC employees to make their experience enjoyable. Shuttle Bus Operators must be punctual, customer-focused, and charismatic.
Responsibilities:
Maintain ridership information and report per company processes. Maintain route standards and only stray from the designated routes with permission of management or law enforcement.
Participates actively in maintaining cleanliness standards in buses and UPMC facilities.
Fuel the vehicle according to company policy.
Understands and monitors D.O.T. compliance. Remain compliant with all regulations and guidelines established by the Federal Motor Carriers Safety Administration (FMCSA), Driver License, Medical Card, Motor Vehicle Resource (MVR).
Develop and foster a strong working relationship with all riders and co-workers. Provide the highest level of customer service to all passengers. Demonstrate safe working and driving actions.
Complies with all UPMC Employee Transit policies and procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Commercial Driver’s License plus Passenger Endorsement
High school graduate/GED, or 1-year previous driving experience required in lieu of HS Diploma/GED, or successful completion of the UPMC Shuttle Bus Operator Trainee Program
Deep understanding of transportation regulations and governmental policies related to transporting people required.
Strong customer service background.
Ability to manage change in a busy environment required.
Good driving record required.
Licensure/Clearances: (to be acquired after offer acceptance and before start date – we will provide instructions on how to obtain)
DOT Medical Card Clearance
Registration with Clearinghouse Drug and Alcohol (FMCSA)
