Accounting Supervisor

The Accounting Supervisor will serve as a key member of the accounting team reporting directly to the Accounting Manager. This role will be a key partner within the accounting team in day-to-day activities, special projects, and business process improvements with focus on ensuring timely and accurate completion of essential duties including month-end closing, variance analysis, and accurate preparation of financial results.
Job Responsibilities:
Lead and own the monthly financial close process in compliance with established deadlines
Serve as a key contact for inquiries regarding consolidated and stand alone results
Ensure proper accounting policies and principles are followed in accordance with NAIC statutory accounting policies
Ensure transactions are recorded, documented, reviewed, and supported in accordance with company policies, and NAIC statutory accounting policies
Partner with Finance Business Process Unit to identify and implement automation and report enhancements
Partner with other departments, including FP&A and Actuarial, to analyze variances (planned vs actual)
Assist in annual audit with external auditors
Ensure compliance of internal controls over financial reporting
Perform ad-hoc projects and analysis
Support company-wide strategic initiatives
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting is preferred; Master’s Degree, CPCU or CPA a plus
5 + years of accounting or related experience
2 + years of supervisory responsibilities
Previous experience in the Property/Casualty insurance industry preferred
Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point)
Ability to cultivate innovation
