This Assembler position is located at Astec's Yankton, South Dakota site formerly known as Kolberg-Pioneer.

About this Assembler Position

The Assembler, under the direction of the Assembly Department Supervisor and in cooperation with the Team Leader, will safely perform a variety of tasks to correctly assemble, fit, and join components in the production process of heavy and large mechanical products, per specifications and in accordance with the production schedule, and making independent decisions with minimal direct supervision when given appropriate instructions.

Key Activities & Responsibilities of this Assembler PositionAssembles component parts, machined parts, and subassembliesAccurately follows documents, such as diagrams, schematics, blueprints, or other verbal or written instructions.Use and understand assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, and part listsUses various hand tools, pneumatic tools, hydraulic tools, and precision measuring instruments to complete tasksOperates overhead cranes and forklifts to move parts and materials in and out of work area and to assemble large componentsPerforms minor adjustments, repairs, or setups to equipment or machines under supervisionPerform all required job functions in a safe manner consistent with plant safety standards and report any problems immediately to the team leader or Department Supervisor.Skills and Experience Required to be a successful Assembler

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.Relevant trade school or college course work desired.Ability to correctly use and read a tape measure.Ability to correctly read and use a blueprint.Heavy equipment manufacturing experience desired.Able to operate overhead cranes and forklifts preferred.Computer experience desired, particularly the ability to use a mouse, and locate and open/close files.Ability to sufficiently carry out detailed and written and/or oral instructions.Must have good written and oral communication skills.Assembler Pay & Benefits
