Statement of the job
The
University of Maine at Fort Kent
is seeking to hire an
Executive Director of Advancement and Alumni Relations . The Advancement Office is committed to offering exceptional fundraising services, knowledge, and counsel to donors, prospective donors, and the leadership of the institution. Internal and external contacts are many and varied. By seeking private contributions in order to increase the margin of excellence of its educational institution, it establishes and implements a wide range of policies and procedures for individual donors, contributing alumni, friends, corporations and foundations. Within this context, the Executive Director of Advancement and Alumni Relations is charged with directing the Annual Fund, providing comprehensive support to the University of Maine at Fort Kent Alumni Association and the University of Maine at Fort Kent Foundation including the management of annual meetings, financial records and events, and building relationships with prospective donors and organizations to secure philanthropic support, and enhancing the relationship between UMFK Alumni and the University of Maine at Fort Kent Alumni Association.
This is an on-campus, 12-month position.
Based on the qualifications and experience of the successful applicant, the annual salary range for this position is
$70,000 to $80,000
. The University and surrounding communities also play important roles in preserving, cultivating, and celebrating the Franco-American/Acadian culture in the St. John Valley and housing one of two Acadian Archives/Archives acadiennes in the nation. UMFK is the only institution in the United States located at the center of the French culture of northern Maine, eastern New Brunswick, and western Québec, offering opportunities for students to study and live in a bilingual region. The surrounding town of Fort Kent is a welcoming town of approximately 3,800 people who are active in various festivals, community gatherings, and civic work. UMFK is embedded near the center of town allowing easy access to amenities and the community at large.

Required QualificationsEarned bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or an equivalent combination of education and experience;Strong communication skills including excellent writing, verbal and interpersonal skills;One to three years of experience in fund-raising and event planning;Experience with budgeting, bookkeeping/or accounting;Office and financial management;Proficient with Microsoft suite softwarePreferred Qualifications
Earned master's degree from an accredited institution or an equivalent combination of education and experience;Three-five years of experience in fund-raising and donor relations;Experience in event planning and administration; volunteer coordination and non-profit 501.3.c organizations.
The successful candidate should demonstrate the following: enthusiasm and initiative in carrying out plans and activities; flexibility; attention to detail; commitment to maintaining confidentiality; ability to handle multiple projects and tasks; and ability to work collaboratively with other offices on campus, alumni and donors, and volunteers.
