As a Physician Assistant with Des Moines Orthopaedics Surgeons, you will have the opportunity to have a positive impact on a patient's life by providing medical care to improve their activities of daily living and/or help them get back in the game. You will work alongside an Orthopaedic Surgeon in clinic and in the OR. You will have the opportunity to work with patients of all ages. Assist with call requirements as determined by the Orthopaedic Physician. On clinic days, hours will follow an 8am-5pm timeframe (based on physician schedule) with the understanding clinic may run over at times and we are ultimately here for the patient. On surgical days, be available to get started early to follow scheduling of the surgery center.

Do I want this job? Under general supervision, you will provide independent acute and/or routine medical care to Orthopaedic patients in the clinic and within the OR. You want a position working with a busy and productive provider. You are aware that on call may be necessary and enjoy working with a variety of trained medical and administrative professionals. You enjoy working with a diverse set of patients. Be understanding that our patients are hurting and may not always be super pleasant, however, they are very grateful. You will work in a place that expects outstanding experiences; we do this by working hard to assume the best and being curious with all around us. You will be naturally curious, friendly and helpful.
Can I do this job? You may need to be on your feet for long periods of time. You may also need to assist in transporting, positioning or holding patients when necessary. You are able to life at least 50 pounds for select tasks. You have (or will have) a Physician Assistant Degree from a state accredited PA Program. You are eligible to practice as a Physician Assistant in the state of Iowa. You must maintain your PA license and be in good standing. Prior experience working in Orthopaedic Care. For credentialing at a hospital, you must be up to date on vaccinations and meet all requirements necessary for credentialing.
