Job Overview:
A prominent financial services firm based in New York, NY, is looking for an experienced Controller. This role involves managing comprehensive accounting functions and ensuring regulatory compliance under the leadership of the CFO.
Key Responsibilities:Administer payroll operations, including the use of advanced payroll systems, employee onboarding, payroll audits, tax reporting, and reconciliations.Ensure the accurate preparation and timely submission of financial statements and regulatory filings, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.Manage monthly reconciliations, bookkeeping, fund transfers, and oversight of travel and entertainment expenses.Maintain compliance with regulatory capital requirements and ensure ongoing adherence to financial regulations.Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive accounting policies and systems to optimize internal controls and financial processes.Oversee the monthly financial close process, including general ledger maintenance and the preparation of detailed financial reports.Prepare financial health assessments, including revenue and expense analysis, along with strategic recommendations.Develop financial forecasts, revenue models, and financial projections.Handle treasury management tasks for the organization and its associated entities.Coordinate audit activities and continuously enhance accounting procedures to improve efficiency and support key business functions.Collaborate with senior management to address financial challenges and implement necessary procedural adjustments.Manage accounts payable and receivable functions, including expense tracking and allocation.Assist in managing relationships with financial institutions and oversee related administrative tasks.Support tax filing preparation and provide necessary documentation for audits.Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with CPA designation preferred.Series 27 license or willingness to obtain it is desirable.Proficiency in QuickBooks or equivalent accounting platforms, advanced Excel skills required, and experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP preferred.At least 6 years of accounting experience within the financial services sector, particularly in brokerage or clearing operations.Experience in payroll management is an asset.In-depth understanding of financial systems, reporting standards, and regulatory compliance.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capability to work effectively in a high-paced environment.Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with various levels of management and across departments.

$155k - $175k
