By joining Ames, you will be working with talented colleagues at an award-winning, nationally recognized top 75 general contractor.An Operator operates several types of power construction equipment, such as compressors, pumps, hoists, derricks, cranes, shovels, tractors, dozers, scrapers, motor graders, and off-road rock trucks, to excavate, move, and grade earth. An operator will turn valves to control compressors and pumps' air and water output. Adjusts hand wheels and depresses pedals to drive machine and control attachments, such as blades, buckets, scrapers, and swing booms. Repairs and maintains equipment.Ames is looking for Scraper Operators who are safe, efficient, highly skilled, and productive operators for our projects in and near: Bagdad, AZOperator Apprentices are encouraged to apply as well.Basic Employment RequirementsBe committed to working safely and wearing all required safety equipment.Report any unsafe conditions or acts to your immediate supervisorPass a Pre-employment Drug Screen and Alcohol Test. Free of medication that may limit or alter the ability to operate equipment in a safe mannerBe able to read and understand Safety and Employment requirementsBe dependable and consistent about attendance and punctualityWilling and able to work extended hours and possible nights and weekends as requiredTolerate temperature extremes and changing job site conditions (rain, snow, heat, cold, etc.)Be committed to helping achieve a 100% no-accident work areaBe committed to supporting the team in achieving its production goals at any assigned taskMaintain a professional attitude while learning each task and take constructive criticism as a motivation to learnArizona region will require joining and maintaining membership in local operators' union.Minimum Physical RequirementsHave full range of motion with neck, back, and hands, and exert muscle force repeatedly or continuouslyHave vision at 20/40 with or without corrective lensesHave the ability to hear at an average level with or without hearing devices Be able to climb in/out of equipment without assistanceBe able to walk on uneven surfacesBe able to twist, stoop, and bend while maintaining sure-footedness and balanceSpend about 80% of your time in motion while operating equipmentThis is a 'Safety-sensitive position' which means a position in which an impairment caused by drug or alcohol usage would threaten the health or safety of any personEssential Job SkillsOperate the Track Equipment in all phases of operations, during normal conditions, night conditions, adverse weather, emergencies; including hand and foot controlsPerform routine maintenance, and watch gauges, dials, or other indicators to ensure working properlyExercise good judgment about the safety and health of you and othersComplete and understand the paperwork necessary for this jobBe organized and able to execute verbal and written instructionsBe able to work with others and also to work independently on assigned tasksMaintain good housekeeping cab and work area at all timesAccurately complete a daily timecard and other paperwork as requiredAmes Construction is an equal opportunity employer.
