The role
This role is focused on the Lantern team at SoFi. Our mission is to build and grow a financial marketplace, building both a compelling supplier experience for providers of financial products, as well as a compelling user experience in suggesting the right financial products for our users. Ideal candidates have a passion for designing beautiful APIs and well architected systems.
We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join the Lantern team who will help build our next generation Marketplace platform. The successful candidate will have a strong background in designing, developing, and maintaining robust back-end systems. As a Senior Back-End Software Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the scalability, performance, and security of our platform.
Key responsibilitiesLead the development and testing of our systems and servicesParticipate in shaping the technical architecture of the productHelp translate product requirements into user stories and technical solutionsDeliver highly available and scalable services in a production environmentMentor other engineers, support the technical culture, and help grow the teamGenerate ideas for new initiatives and technologiesDrive operational excellence in our business processes to deliver higher service qualityCommunicate with project leads, product managers and other software developersRequirements
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field8+ years programming experience, ideally on a modern stack.Our core stack is Java/ Kotlin/ Spring / AWS/ PostgreSQL, and we run on Kubernetes in a service oriented architecture.4+ years Java, Kotlin or other OO programming experienceA solid understanding of relational databases and ORMsExperience working on microservice-based applications.Experience working with GIT and CI/CD systems.Effective communication skillsWillingness to roll up your sleeves, collaborate with others and get stuff doneSolid sense of responsibility; driving a project from inception to completionExperience working in a collaborative coding environment, refining designs together, working through code reviews and managing pull requestsView Unit and Integration test as 1st class citizen in software developmentDesire to grow, learn and collaborate with team of engineers.Nice To Have
Experience scaling highly available, mission critical systemsFull-stack experience, either toward systems (kafka, temporal, docker), databases (DynamoDB), or front-end (javascript/typescript, react)Insurance Industry Experience: Familiarity with the insurance industry and its specific regulatory requirements.

The base pay range for this role is listed below. Final base pay offer will be determined based on individual factors such as the candidate's experience, skills, and location.
