Our Team:

The person filling this position will report to the Sr. Engineering Director of the Infrastructure Fleet Organization (Infra::Fleet). Infra::Fleet is currently composed of 7 teams and is made up of 60 diverse engineers located across the US, Canada, and Europe.What You'll Be Doing:Work with your fellow sharks to design, develop, and optimize the next generation of virtualized GPU infrastructureWork with customers and stakeholders to define and refine infrastructure requirements needed to support their AI/ML workloadWork with infrastructure technical leaders to define infrastructure requirements to store, move, and manipulate large datasetsGuide performance teams on industry standard testing methodologies and help optimize for GPU fabric throughputIdentify security improvements and drive review discussions with internal teamsInfluencing a culture of engineering excellence through active engagement with DigitalOcean's Architecture groupWorking directly with individual engineering teams to deliver new infrastructure functions and technologies in support of DigitalOcean AI/ML productsDrive technical strategy that influences medium and long term roadmaps5-20% of your time is spent contributing to open source communities related to our stack and encouraging your fellow sharks to do the sameWhat We'll Expect From You:Experience delivering virtualized and/or bare metal GPU infrastructureUnderstanding of AI/ML workloads and overall industry trendsA track record of upstream contribution and influence in relevant open source communities (like mlcomms, kernel, and QEMU)Experience driving technical strategy for a company or larger organizationStrong collaborator and consensus builder. Author and review design documentationExperience troubleshooting, analyzing, and debugging relevant virtualization stacks (kernel, kvm, QEMU)Experience as a software engineer / developer in a large scale, distributed environmentExperience writing secure, testable, and robust low-level codeDeep understanding of operating systems, virtualization, and Linux internalsFamiliarity with related virtualization fundamentals, including networking datapath, containers, and data persistence layersA critical thinker dedicated to solving problems and delivering solutionsWhy You'll Like Working for DigitalOcean :We are proud to work here.

The salary range for this position is between $235,000 - $274,000 based on market data, relevant years of experience, and skills. You may qualify for a bonus in addition to base salary; bonus amounts are determined based on company and individual performance. We also provide equity compensation to eligible employees, including equity grants upon hire and the option to participate in our Employee Stock Purchase Program.We value diversity and inclusion.
