VOA High School is currently seeking a

Student Engagement Specialist

for full-time employment. This specialist's role will be to provide comprehensive supports for a diverse student population by evaluating student needs, applying creative problem solving, building strong relationships and creating opportunities for each student's personal and academic success. Essentials:Providing a wide range of supports to all students enrolled at VOA High School, including but not limited to collaborative goal-setting, creation of long term plans, SEL skills education, and students' support networks communication and meetings.Providing regular communication and information to students' families which encourages regular attendance and academic progress.Collaborating daily with staff to provide and measure interventions which promote student success.Contributing to SEL education during scheduled advisory period.Working one on one with students throughout the school day to keep them in class and learning.Actively problem solving with students to address conflicts peacefully and providing prescribed supports to keep student body safe should conflicts arise.Creating and implementing appropriate incentives to motivate student growth and success.Participating in student support team and intervention meetings as well as general staff meetings.Following, enforcing and educating students about VOA High School and MPS policies and protocols.Leading initiatives which provide students with voice and choice and promote positive school climate.Keeping detailed records and providing data which describes interventions, student success and general progress.Job Highlights:

High School Diploma or equivalentExperience working with youth, ages 15 - 21Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.Ability to work with a diverse population of individuals by using tact diplomacy and flexibility.Ability to deduce the necessary level of response to a variety of situations.Able to decide the proper person to notify in cases of emergency and to determine alternate courses of action when faced with more than a single alternative.Decision making, negotiating/mediating
